The Mathematics Department at Dartmouth College is excited to host a midsummer music festival on Friday, August 14th at 6pm on the Kemeny-Haldeman Patio.
Bring your own food and refreshment and enjoy the sweet sounds of live outdoor music provided by:
Serena Jost
Serena Jost writes "gently eccentric songs and sings them in an elegant alto, often
accompanying herself on cello, but it isn't quite right to call her a singer-songwriter.
The term art song, normally tied to 19thcentury concert music, usefully
characterizes Jost's carefully arranged pieces and succinct
lyrics, neither quite rock nor folk..."

Amanda Thorpe
What Linda Thompson was to
the 70s and early 80s, Amanda
Thorpe is to this era, another
British expat steeped in
traditional English folk,
possessed of one of the most
beautifully haunting voices you
will ever hear ...she will give you
eerie austerity and resigned
melancholy, but she also has a
seductive, torchy side with great
nuance. --Lucidculture
Company Picnic
James Graham, Mark Heels, and
Dan Longnecker discovered that
the annual picnic at work could be
more than awkward conversation
and dubious potato salad. One
summer they showed up with their
respective guitar, bass, and
mandolin, and have collaborated
ever since on a fine blend of
original and traditional American
roots music.
